12 men of Texas Tech immortalized in calendar for a cause

Texas Tech has 12 outstanding men who are waiting to be picked up at the Student Union.
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and Court Appointed Special Assistants, have teamed up and put together a calendar featuring the top men from organizations all over campus.
Armen Williams, a senior marketing major from Arlington, said he did not believe he had the body to do a calendar, but after the first meeting when he was told his clothes would be staying on, he was extremely excited.
"I think more than anything it is just a huge honor to both myself and my organization to be chosen as one of the 12 men of Texas Tech," he said.
In the end, great guys were chosen, Williams said, and getting to get to know them during the photo shoots and throughout the whole process was awesome.
Williams, Mr. March, said he wanted to wear anything and everything that represented him as a Red Raider and would show his spirit for Tech basketball in his photo shoot.
"I thought it was only appropriate if I was on a calendar with my fro and in my band uniform," Williams said. "(March is the) month that I kind of go crazy the most."
Williams said he was not the only one of the men who had his photo planned in his mind. He said Khalid Naziruddin, a senior football player from Houston, wanted to show off his physic by taking his photo while pumping iron in the workout room.
"Girls will look at my picture and die laughing," Williams said. "Then they will look at his and gasp, 'oh my.'"
Trina Vollbracht, Kappa Alpha Theta 2005 vice president of external relations, said organizations around campus put their best candidate forward, and then through processes of cuts and interviews the men were chosen.
"The guys were so great through the whole process," she said.
The calendar allows the men to show off for their organizations and at the same time raise awareness for CASA.
"You can see the diversity of our campus hanging on your wall," she said.
